Correlation between linear magnetostriction and magnetocaloric effect in the Fe<sub>7</sub>Se<sub>8</sub> single crystals

Abstract The effect of the change in size under influence an applied magnetic field (magnetostriction) was studied Fe 7 Se 8 single crystals. It shown that a systematic unit-cell constants, induced by external and dependent on direction magnitude this field, strongly correlates with spin reorientation temperature ( T SRT ) entropy change, which is magnetization. obtained results suggest relation between magnetostriction (Δ S m ), reported previously for different materials, seems to have universal character, can be used as indirect method estimate crystals substituted transition metals.
